Agroforestry is a developing industry in Saskatchewan. It may have a fit with irrigation when combined with waste water or biosolid utilization to increase the financial viability of such a venture. Trees like poplar and higher-value lumber species can be grown for a variety of end uses.
Biomass production for energy is gaining attention because of potential for utilization to produce heat, electricity or biofuel. It may also work well with waste water utilization as an irrigated crop.
